Filmblasting in the Stack
Drew and Ross from OMGDrift were scheduled to bring the OMGLimo by Lab17 for graphics, so Joe wanted to come by too to check it out. Well, the limo blew up before the guys even made it out of Socal and they were bringing the Element instead so we had some time to kill. What better way to kill time than to go burn up three rolls of film in downtown Hayward?
Geoff, Joe, and I loaded up Geoff’s recently-resurrected S14 with our boards and cameras and headed downtown. The plan was to park behind Buffalo Bill’s and skate over to City Hall, shooting whatever we saw along the way!
I saw Joe’s skateboard, which is a hella cool bamboo Loaded deck with Paris reverse kingpin trucks! I want one!
Skating gave us an opportunity to explore a little bit. Most people probably never even notice this alley when they drive around in their cars. Even Geoff and Joe skated right past it!
Since I hung out in the alley for a minute, Geoff and Joe had to wait for me. While they were waiting they spotted this donk Camry! Geoff was going to shoot it, but then i came shooting out into the crosswalk instead! Sorry Geoff!
By the time we got to City Hall it was time to rest! Here you can see my early 2000s Canon Elan 7. It’s not all vintage and old school like Geoff’s mid-80s Nikons, but at least all of my modern lenses fit on it!
Joe was fascinated with shooting seagulls, so he concentrated on that. It’s a tough assignment with film, but that’s how you become a man.
Joe tried to move Geoff’s camera out of the way. “LEAVE THAT THERE!!!” was Geoff’s response. I guess he was trying to be artistic or something. He had better luck when he turned around and shot City Hall silhouetted with the sun barely behind it. Later on he told me a story about how he did the same thing with a disposable camera when he was at the Washington Monument and how awesome it was. Cool story, bro.
You know Joe and Geoff love to do handstands right? What makes this one special is that it was actually illegal. That plaque below Joe says “Please stay off the fountain and out of the water.” Well, they did both of those things.
Joe and Geoff hopped over to the next roof where there was a pedodrome. Joe was getting some serious grip on that thing!! Just look at the bank! Afterword he said he didn’t feel good. Maybe he should have had that 2-liter of Jack the night before, and Indian curry so hot it made him sweat just before we went out shooting.
This picture is out of focus because Joe’s eyes were out of focus and he thought it was good. Not good buddy! Not good!
Damn! This could be a Facebook profile picture!
Oh damn! There’s that donk Camry again!
