AttackWorks
Meet Sam Mercado. He’s an artist in Puerto Rico who decided to get in the tee shirt game. He’s also into drifting, which is what led him to becoming a fan of Justin Shreeve’s videos. One day, he hit up Justin on Facebook to see what Justin thought of his artwork. Justin checked out Sam’s site, AttackWorks.net, and was blown away with the awesomeness.
Justin always liked the heavy metal tees his friends wore, but he wasn’t a metal fan himself, so he felt weird to wear a band’s shirt if he didn’t even listen to the band. Sam’s designs were everything Justin liked about metal but without the band affiliation. He told Sam his designs were rad and that was the last he heard from him.
Until Formula D Florida, that is. Sam came out to PBIR and brought some of his rad shirts for Justin and Joe. Geoff and I didn’t meet Sam at that time, but suddenly Justin and Joe had these awesome shirts. That’s how the rest of us first heard of AttackWorks.
From then on, Justin seemed to never wear anything besides AttackWorks. He even wore it when we went to New York! I’ll admit I was jealous. I wanted to have shirts this cool too!
Sam was blown away that Life Blasters liked his work so much, so he designed a shirt for us too! What an awesome guy! It’s going to be for sale on the site pretty soon!
Sam mailed us a box of shirts just in time for FD Irwindale. Finally we all had some AttackWorks swag.
I asked Sam to tell me a little about himself and why he’s so awesome.
Sam: I work with my father. We have operated a Mitsubishi service center…motor repair, parts, warranty. transmissions, paint, everything. Been workin since I was 13. Been around cars since birth. My dad had a repair and muffler shop and used to sponsor a few local circuit cars back in the day. Datsun 510′s and RX-7′s.
Sam: I’ve been been drawing since forever. Studied graphic design. We had a shop Evo VIII a few years back that I drove in a few time attack and gymkhana events locally. Awesome times!! Then I fell in love with 240′s and the whole drifting scene. Did some more driving, but sadly we lost our drifting spot so drifting has faded a lot locally so now I’m fusing both interests, cars and art, to try and make this AttackWorks madness work!!
We at Life Blasters wish Sam the best of luck! Stay rad!

I’m wearing one of my attackworks shirts right now. Sam is the MAN. <3 him so much. Terence says he wants Sam to design every shirt he ever wears from here on out. Fact.
