Hello everyone! My name is Sam Attal. I am a 21-year-old contributor for MotorMavens and a student journalist for Contra Costa College's newspaper in San Pablo/Richmond, California. I covered my first Occupy protest last night as part of the worldwide May Day festivities for my newspaper. It was intense! Read More
Once a year, the music festival Coachella comes to Indio California packing a powerful lineup for the tens of thousands of event goers. Tickets sell out months before the event date and people from around the world come to congregate for 3 days of fun in the sun. My significant other, Brooke, and I decided come out for this year's event. … Read More
Last Sunday marked the opening day for 2012 drift season at Pat's Acres Racing Complex, commonly known as PARC, hosted by Loki Motorsports. In addition to this, it would also be the first time that the track's new extensions would be driven on. Having these new extensions would help the track have a better flow for the avid drift enthusiasts that regularly attend. … Read More
"THE best drifting video to ever be made in America." - Justin Shreeve
The rest of us here at Life Blasters couldn't agree more. This is one of the best drifting videos we've ever seen. We're excited to see more of what the Bloodmasters boys are cooking up, as this is only "part 1."
I don't know what we'd do without Facebook. On Friday our friend (who just happens to be an officer on the Oakland Police Department) posted a flyer about this protest event called "March Against Repression: Fuck OPD" and said "Here we go again." Read More
New Year's Day is my cousin Alex's birthday. Can you imagine turning 21 right at midnight, as everyone is partying their brains out? Pretty rad if you ask me. After the partying and much-needed sleep, Alex had a birthday party at die BierStube, a German tavern in Seattle. I couldn't have thought of a better place. Read More
While digging through thousands (okay, hundreds maybe) of my photos from this year, I came upon this conclusion: I need to either take way more photos or stop altogether. That being said, here is a compilation of not the greatest photos, but rather the greatest moments of 2011 that I happened to capture with my picture taking device. Shown above is an upset Chinese toddler whose stupid mother purchased the wrong flavor instant soup.… Read More
Christmas started out rocky this year. Friday, the evening before I was set to drive 3 hours to my parents' house for Christmas, my car failed. Long story short, I got there anyway. Over the past few years my Mom has been going crazy with alternative cooking techniques, and one of the awesome… Read More
A couple weeks ago, Geoff, Joe and I ventured over to west Oakland to march to the port with the Occupiers. It had been a while since they were kicked out of Frank Ogawa Plaza so we were anxious to see what was going to happen. Would the police block them from closing the port? Would the teamsters and longshoremen support or oppose the protest? We fell in line to find out. Read More
Welcome friends, to my retrospective post on 2011. That special time of year when I reflect on all the adventures I had a part in, and get to go through heaps and heaps of photos which ends up being an adventure all on its own. This year I came to a few realizations during the quest for my best photos, one of which was a disappointing one. I need to be more careful when deleting files. I won't cry on and on about how my favorite photos from this year were lost… Read More
We set up for the Bay Area's premier bad weather BBQ at Luke Lonberger's shop, Blu808 in Campbell. Previous WinterQs have all been hosted at Lab17 in Hayward and Fremont, so we knew hosting the party so much closer to the equator would have serious effects on attendance. Read More

What a year 2011 has been. It's been such a privilege to be a part of the Life Blasters crew, and I can't wait for what 2012 holds in store for us. My first Life Blasters post was on the PGP event in March, so I think I'll start with that. Jason Cancio has probably my absolute favorite car that drives that track. Not for its JDM radness, but for its pure originality. Stock metal, stock wheels, stock aero, slammed rwd STi hatch cannot lose.… Read More
My Thanksgiving is kind of weird every year. I always go to the Bob's Donuts Day After Thanksgiving Trackday at Buttonwillow, which is three and a half hours south of my house, so I never get to go to my wife's family's house for Thanksgiving, which is three and a half hours north in Redding. It just doesn't work. Usually I eat with Luke Lonberger's family and then we head straight to the track, but this year was different. This year, my wife's family wasn't having Thanksgiving til… Read More
2011's SF Auto Show was awesome. All the manufacturers had their newest models on display in a setting where you could climb all over them, press all the buttons, and play with all the gadgets. The show also featured a vintage car collection from the Academy of Art University which was truly breathtaking.
