As an addition to our usual event coverage, I've been thinking lately about doing something a little different. We usually leave the track with tons for photos that don't ever relate to an actual story and don't ever get used. So I've decided to make this the first of my "Photo Dump" posts where I pour all my unused photos here for you guys to enjoy. Also, please leave feedback and let us know what you want to see in future Photo Dump posts, whether… Read More
It's been a while since we did a Video Monday post, and a few videos have dropped recently that we think are worth checking out. First up, YAER Productions' official Formula DRIFT Australia video. A brilliant piece of moving art from Ryan Davis and the gang.
Fredric Aasbø put an end to Daijiro Yoshihara's perfect season by claiming the #1 qualifying spot. He qualified third and finished second here last year so we know he's got it in him to perform well at this track. Fredric will meet Walker Wilkerson in the Round of 32 tomorrow. Walker… Read More
The Long Beach Grand Prix is a race weekend I look forward to every year, though it's easily one of the most exhausting events from a photographer's standpoint. The 24/25 hour races certainly take their toll, especially if you can manage to stay awake through the whole thing, but the LBGP's wacky schedule and sheer number of races, qualifying sessions, and practice sessions crammed into three days is enough to make even the toughest photographer want to go puke in the bushes.… Read More

Formula Drift implemented a new qualifying method for 2013. Before, each driver would get two nonconsecutive runs, starting with the lowest ranked driver and working up the list. Now they start with the highest ranked driver and work their way down, and after the first run the top 16 drivers are locked in and don't get another run. The remaining drivers then take their second run and try to claim one of the remaining 16 spots. The implications of the change aren't small,… Read More

As if spending 15 hours in the desert shooting the Mint 400 wasn't enough, Alex and I decided to wake up early the next morning and leave LA to go shoot the first round of Norcal's new ProAm series, Golden Gate Drift. We were exhausted but it was sunny so away we went. When we got there we found the car we should have driven to Vegas.… Read More

Source Interlink Media held their 2nd Formula Drift Tech Day/Car Meet today in Irvine. FD Drivers from all over the Southern California area came down to get their cars inspected and approved to compete at Long Beach in a few weeks. The turnout was probably 3 or 4 times larger than last year's event. I don't have an exact number, but the entire parking lot was packed with any tuner car you can think of. The event went from around 9am to 5pm.… Read More

It's about that time of year again, It's crazy looking back through this year and throwing stuff together for this "Year End" post. I checked out my post from last year and couldn't stand anything I shot. I can only hope to hate this post as much when December rolls around in 2013. I'll pick this up where I left off last year, right before the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Aside from Pikes Peak, this was one of the coldest events… Read More
Okay, while not actually in 2012, my trip to the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula happened after my Best of 2011 post. How could I not include this awesome tree? Canon 5D Mark II and 17-40mm f/4 @ 17mm, f/8, 1/3s, ISO 100, tripod. The Occupy movement was still going strong in January so Geoff, Joe, and I went to go check out the "Fuck the Police" protest that was going on in Oakland. The police were not happy when this banner was unrolled.… Read More
