A lot of people ask me what it's like to be constantly traveling and covering awesome motorsports events like Formula D and Rally America. Most of those people understand that there's a lot of behind the scenes work and preparation that goes into it, but maybe they are unclear on the details. I decided to document my trip to Florida and back last week so I could offer a glimpse into the world of the traveling motorsports photographer and what it takes to go cover an… Read More
This is shaping up to be a pretty interesting season, complete with intense battles, big swings in the standings, and fans angry at what they perceive as bad judging. The root of the weirdness is the new qualifying format and its tendency to create important battles early on in the competition. Those battles result in good drivers getting poor results. The new judging criteria for determining zeros is source of misunderstanding among fans, as seemingly small mistakes on an otherwise stellar run can cause a driver to lose. It's also confusing to the fans when… Read More
As the newest addition to the Formula D tour, Palm Beach International Raceway is not a track that is well known to lot of people in the drifting world. Even among the big tracks in Florida it's always overshadowed by Sebring and Daytona. Palm Beach does have its history though, albiet a frustrating one. This track is somewhat unique in that the front and back straight are… Read More
Okay, while not actually in 2012, my trip to the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula happened after my Best of 2011 post. How could I not include this awesome tree? Canon 5D Mark II and 17-40mm f/4 @ 17mm, f/8, 1/3s, ISO 100, tripod. The Occupy movement was still going strong in January so Geoff, Joe, and I went to go check out the "Fuck the Police" protest that was going on in Oakland. The police were not happy when this banner was unrolled.… Read More
Shreeve was super busy between Florida and Jersey, so he didn't have time to edit a Florida video until now. And while he was at it, he had time to do a Jersey edit as well!
Here's the latest from one of our promising young blaster pals, Brandon Kado. Each video he makes surpasses the last by leaps and bounds, and that's really saying something since even his Long Beach video from this year was awesome. Check this out, and show your friends! This video deserves a lot… Read More
Sure it's a Gatorade commercial, but it's pretty awesome and done in a single take. Not what it sounds like. Tadao Cern blew air in people's faces and filmed them with a high speed camera. Not your typical video portrait project.
Ahoy Blasterfans! I don't even know why I am writing this article since the world is going to end due to a massive zombie apocalypse in the near future. I feel lucky just to have left Florida with my face. My crew and I weighed anchor out of California on an airborne vessel to meet our drift frigate at port in Florida.… Read More
Armed with the lessons of what happened with the original track layout last year, the guys took measures to make it safer for both the drivers and the fans this year. There were no incidents where debris of crashing cars was thrown into the stands, so the original configuration finally got to be used in competition. The first thing… Read More
Florida is BG country. If you don't watch out, he'll break your hand when you fist bump. Tailyr is nicer than BG. She'll give you a hug. She also does double duty working at the Keep Drifting Fun booth when she's not wearing the pink dress for Nexen. Read More
