The fifth and final round of the '11-'12 Super-Am season can only be summed up in one word: awesome. The first four rounds were single-run competitions and the top four unseeded drivers from each round were seeded for this final tandem round. The winner of Round 5 would win the entire series, with the grand prize…

I first encountered Matt Madrigali's S13 when it was up at Luke Lonberger's Mountain Shop above Los Gatos in 2008. It didn't look too different from how it looks now, but Luke was working on the engine and fuel system as fast as Matt could pay for it.

Matt bought the car in 2007 already painted and with the widebody already…

Every year as the year comes to a close, Thunderdrift gives you one last chance to go drifting. This year's big year-end event was Sam Mercado's Tropical Hula Girl Drift, which consisted of Super-Am Round 4 on the Driftpad with open drifting and gripping sessions on the big track. Not a bad way to spend the last weekend before Christmas if you ask me.

Welcome friends, to my retrospective post on 2011. That special time of year when I reflect on all the adventures I had a part in, and
get to go through heaps and heaps of photos which ends up being an adventure all on its own. This year I came to a few realizations during the quest for my best photos, one of which was a disappointing one. I need to be more careful when deleting files. I won't cry on and on about how my favorite photos from this year were lost…

In all of our travels throughout the last twelve months, a handful of photos stands out from the rest. Many end up as wallpapers. A few never make it into posts. But when digging through a hard drive, they're the ones you keep coming across that make you say "Damn! This one is awesome!" These are those photos.

December 2010: On the remote northwestern tip of Maui, I waited in a light,…

Things are starting to heat up in Super-Am! This round was the biggest this season and it was full of surprises including upsets, setups, let downs, rock crawling, and celebrity appearances.

The first surprise was Joe! He decided to stop by and hang out on his way up to Medford for Thanksgiving. Aww, how sweet!…

This week was pretty crazy. Not only was it the week before SEMA, which makes me really busy anyway, but there were two ThunderDrift events to go to. First was Super-Am Round 2 on Sunday followed by the Kris Hackenson Scary Halloween Drift on Tuesday.

Recently I've been shooting at trackday events local to the San Francisco Bay Area for a company called
GotBlueMilk. Let me tell you now, it's definitely not Life Blasting. Accuracy and thoroughness are the primary concerns when shooting for GotBlueMilk, so I call it Business Blasters.…

I decided not to write anything for this one. It's hard to write two stories about the same event, and there were a lot of good photos that wouldn't have fit that well. So I give you a Larry-Syle PhotoBlog.

As I got into position for the Top 16 round, I spotted some awesome thunderclouds over toward Chico. It might have been nice to have some clouds over the track, as it was around 104ยบ by this time. Hey! Before you read any further, be sure you read
Part 1 first!!

As the halfway point in the season, Round 3 of the TD ProAm Championship was sure to be interesting. Would the points leaders widen their gap or would there be a huge upset? If points were missed there might not be enough to catch back up. Pro licenses would be on the line. It would be nail-biting edge-of-your-seat excitement to say the least.

After what seemed like an eternity, the wait for TD ProAm Round 2 was finally over! Lex King was killing it in qualifying, ending up in the 4th position. Lex is a guy who's had some tough breaks, but he proves over and over again that he's tougher than the breaks are.

Gabe Stone was a bit…
