Here at Life Blasters we bring you a pretty wide variety of stuff. We’re all photographers in the automotive industry, but this isn’t about that. Sure we cover a lot of car events, but the essence of Life Blasting happens off the track, behind the scenes, on the way to or from an event, at your house, or on vacation. Life Blasting is about attacking life at full throttle and enjoying every minute of it. Anyone can be a Life Blaster.
Justin and Joe got a chance to shoot the World Drift Series in Tianjin, China. But what’s more important is that they got a chance to hang out in China at all. They got to check out the city and see what was there.
Life Blasters are always on the job. You never know when you’ll just be driving along on vacation and come around the corner face to face with a fantastic view like this one of the Hanalei Valley on the north shore of Kauai.
Even driving along at home you can see something new. The Northern California coast is famous for its fog, but I’d never seen it coming it quite like this before! Life Blasters have to always be ready. Most of our best shots aren’t planned.
Dead tired in the middle of the night in the desert, there’s still plenty to blast if you’re creative enough. 500 miles from anywhere, the stars are amazing.
At a huge event like Formula D where there’s always tons of action, we’re looking for the little peek into someone’s personality. Did Rhys Millen know he was going to win the event in Las Vegas? I don’t know, but he’s always a serious guy, and you can tell.
Even when shooting the events themselves there are surprises. This was Conrad Grunewald’s last practice run on the day before qualifying in New Jersey. By this same time the next day a storm had come through. The lighting was different and practice got cancelled anyway. By this time the day after that, the event was over and Conrad was the winner. But this exactly lighting condition never repeated itself.
The photographer’s equivalent of “reading between the lines” is “shooting between the poses.” Many of the best photos throughout time have been the unplanned ones, shot off the set or between poses, while the subjects were being themselves. We look for those opportunities everywhere.
People see things every day, but not everyone looks. It’s rewarding to just top and take a look at what you see. Maybe you’ll learn something cool about the place where you live!
Even the most mundane scenes can be beautiful if you look at them right! Life Blasters never miss a chance to go somewhere new even if it’s in their own back yard. San Francisco is right at home in a foggy haze even as trash covers the beach in across the bay in Alameda.
Parties are good places to catch people off guard and maybe get something embarrassing. All you have to do is wait, and the opportunity is sure to present itself.
There’s so much human energy at concerts. The air is filled with fun and excitement when people hear their favorite music live!
At a BBQ full of awesome cars, including three pro drift cars, a driver’s baby daughter made this the most popular photo from the event. It was reblogged all over Tumblr and Facebook!
Life Blasters see a lot of famous things in famous places.
But it’s usually the less famous things that are more interesting. I’d never heard of Sexy Black Guys Dancing before, but they’re at least twice as interesting as the Empire State Building and other New York landmarks.
We’re going to Los Angeles next. Who know what kind of blastable things we can find there?
You’ll find out soon!
