There aren’t a lot of angles that work when shooting a car show entirely at 300mm, but here’s what I got.
We got finished setting up the NOS High Performance Lounge, and I pulled out the 300. Geoff asked “What can you even see with that thing? The entry gate?” Good idea, Geoff!
I liked this shot so much I searched around for other rows of same-model cars to shoot.
We went outside and I saw there was a tour group on Alcatraz.
I aimed east, and Geoff asked me if I was shooting that dock over there. “Nah, man, I’m shooting UC Berkeley!”
Coit Tower was looking lovely with those clouds behind it.
There’s a reason the 300mm 2.8IS is used for wildlife as well as motorsports. This lens is amazing!
Derrick Mance was hanging out with the Vip’d Out crew.
JDM Palace had a sick Toyota Century in its group. The original owner put 1600km on it in four years, then he died and the car sat for 15 years til Sean JDMPalace bought it from the guy’s widow and brought it back to California. It has the original paint and everything! Unfortunately I couldn’t see that car with my lens, so here are the other JDM Palace cars. SORRY!
We spotted Wayne Edwards in the crowd, and Geoff said “Hey! That guy looks like Reggie Watts!!” LOL I totally didn’t expect to see Wayne at Wekfest since he lives in Socal!
Mmmm…Porsches. One of the advantages to Wekfest is that they allow all kinds of cars, not just Japanese cars like in the JDM Theory days.
Domo Kun was dancing around out by the entry. By the end of the day his back was covered in stickers. Haha!
The line to get in was ridiculous. Some people waited as long as two hours and still didn’t get in! I didn’t really enjoy getting there at 7:30am, but at least I didn’t have to wait in this line. Sheesh!
