Last week my friend Nan hit me up on Facebook, rushing to find a photographer for his wedding that was coming up fast. I hadn’t really talked to Nan since our Shock Drifting days back in 2005-06 so he didn’t know I was a photographer. Luckily for him I was! I also learned that he’s a designer at GM in Michigan now. He’s even been working on the exterior of the new C7 Corvette. I’m probably not even supposed to mention that. Haha!
The ceremony was at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. If you’ve never been there, I recommend going to check it out. Designed by Bernard Maybeck, it was originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exhibition, and rebuilt in 1965 out of stronger materials. Now instead of housing art, it houses the Exploratorium.
The main rotunda seems impossibly tall.
It was also impossibly windy while we were there. Hey, that’s better than the rain my weather app said we were supposed to have! That’s Nan’s new wife Juyi by the way. Isn’t she beautiful?
Eventually it was time for the ceremony. From most people’s point of view, there was no background since we were right up against the pond. But all I could see was amazing bokeh!
Couldn’t miss the kiss! That’s the most important part of the whole show!
As they walked back up the aisle I felt like I was witnessing a fairy tale. Except for that guy who kept getting in my shots! At first I thought he had some old 60s camera, but then I took a closer look and it was a Leica M9! Whoa! That thing costs as much as a 1Ds Mark III!
Nan could run for office. Look at that guy!
Apparently cupcakes are all the rage for weddings now. I had no idea but it seems like a cool idea!
Of course there was the bouquet toss. I thought one of the ladies was supposed to catch it, but okay, this works too.
Before I knew it, it was time to go. Wouldn’t want to keep those two longer than I had to.
Congratulations guys, I hope you have a happy life together!
