Sometimes when you’re working on designs or playing Forza late at night, the urge for a Longburger hits you. Luckily for us, there’s a FoodMaxx right around the corner and it’s open 24/7.
“What is a Longburger?” you might ask. Well, at Lab17’s WinterQ 2 way back in 2008, I came up with the idea for a hot dog shaped hamburger and named it after Luke Lonberger. People often misspell his last name as “Longberger” so it’s easy to see why that name works well for this.
We got pretty creative that night and created the Jägerbomb Longburger, where the meat is marinated in a mixture of Jägermeister and Red Bull. They were quite delicious!
Fast forward to the other night. Geoff showed up with a George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Grilling Machine and wanted to make Longburgers, so we went over to FoodMaxx to pick up the ingredients. Think that’s enough meat?
Geoff briefly contemplated getting eggs for the Longburgers. I’m glad he didn’t.
Cheese might work though! We could make Largaburguesas con Queso!
I’m not sure if I mentioned this before…but for his birthday in February, Geoff bought one of these personal birthday cakes because he’s a loser and has no friends.
FoodMaxx has frozen toast. Weird.
They also have a pretty good assortment of blockbuster movies.
See that guy next in line? In the freezer section he asked us, “You guys ever tried the California Pizza Kitchens?” We both said no, and he replied, “Well they’re totally bitchin!” THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, BRO!
Back at the Lab, Geoff caressed one of the Longburgers. After that he made sweet, sweet love to it.
The cheese proved to be a challenge. Since the grill makes contact with both sides of whatever’s cooking, we had to be super careful not to melt all the cheese away. Once we got it down, though, it was amazing. It created an Umami Burger style cheese crust that definitely contained some umami.
So good!
This is way better than barbecuing them! I couldn’t believe how well that grill works! Next time you get hungry at night, run to your local 24/7 supermarket and grab the fixings for a batch of Longburgers!
