Mare Island is a really interesting place! I happened to be in the north-bay area for business meetings, so I met up with my friend Terence Bordon afterward to creep around abandoned buildings and take pictures.
The various buildings out there are chock full of cool stuff, like these old school boilers. I love this stuff.
This building was really badly damaged. There had been a fire in the north wing, and the roof overall had been dilapidated for quite some time. Terence told me his friend fell through the floor upstairs, so needless to say we stayed on the ground floor.
I’m a big fan of graffiti, but I can’t STAND tags. The outside of most of the buildings are covered with those ugly things, blech. Inside one of the big warehouses we found a place where the artists had taken more time, and there were some remarkable pieces of art. I definitely plan to go back there for a more thorough graffiti shoot.
