This week was pretty crazy. Not only was it the week before SEMA, which makes me really busy anyway, but there were two ThunderDrift events to go to. First was Super-Am Round 2 on Sunday followed by the Kris Hackenson Scary Halloween Drift on Tuesday.
I wasn’t able to stay for the entire Super-Am round, as I had to be at a wedding in San Ramon the same day. Luckily Aaron is a good score keeper and kept the scores for me.
On a hot day, sometimes the best tool is the one that keeps you cool.
Everyone needs extra drift wheels. The more colorful the better.
Bekka’s kid Baby D knows how to use a 40D. How cool is that?
Kia wins the “best sticker collection” award.

Daniel Chong was back with the purplest car around.
While Mike showed them how it’s done in ProAm.
Aaron keeps scores, but I should probably tell him to keep names too, so I know who everyone is next time.
Joe and Justin came for the Kris Hackenson Scary Halloween Drift. They drove their S13’s all the way from Medford and only got pulled over three times. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Justin so excited to be up in the morning.
Actually, despite the name, this was a grip event too.
Don from Bob’s Donuts came to pick on everyone in his ultra-fast Miata. He said he was bored by the end of the first session because he was the fastest guy there. And the most modest too, I think.
Is Don pulling away from the pack or are they catching up to him?
This was both Joe and Justin’s first time driving on a real track. Until now they’d only done parking lot events.
Andy Hately liked Thunderhill so much he had to come back. He brought his girlfriend too, and she drives a Hachi! Awesome!
Fabian decided it’d be fun to chase Andy around the track. I don’t know who won.
Shooting gripping sure is a lot different from shooting drifting.
Marcus was having a good time as usual.
Justin’s Chuckles helped him get amazing angle. Look at that!
Dustin knows how to dirt drop.
Back in the paddock, Justin discovered a new method of achieving hellaflush. Instead of pushing the wheels out, you push the fenders in! Genius!
After lunch it was time to see what the Camry was made of. This was my first time driving on the track since 2006 when I still had my FC!
Luke was going to let me use a set of 18’s with Hankook R-S3’s on them, but my lug studs weren’t long enough. Firestone Champions are terrible road racing tires. According to Don’s video, I was running 2:40’s. Haha!
Justin looked pretty good on Turn 5 with his hellaflush.
Yep, not bad at all.
Don got a little loose over 5, but who doesn’t?
Andy Hateley’s girlfriend was killing it.
Even Geoff got in on the action. He was running Hankook slicks. Cheater…
Pretty soon it was time to pack up. Luke and the Blu808 guys had a lot of packing up to do.
Luke took a minute to snap a photo of me and my amazing hair. I’d been so busy lately that I hadn’t had time to get a haircut, so the wind at Thunderhill reminded me why I should.
Andy had a little bit of packing up to do.
Joe and Justin had some packing but they didn’t wanna do it.
Joe built a house of wheels instead.
Andy’s girfriend finished packing early so she had time to play with the dog.
Afterwards a bunch of us went to Black Bear for dinner. Joe was determined to eat dinner really well.
The light inside was pretty awesome right before sunset.
But Shreeve was not impressed.
After dinner, Joe and Justin wanted to pose their cars next to this Corvette for some reason. The Corvette guy was probably scared for his life.
